With Fortnite being owned by Disney, the fact that they haven’t capitalized on a movie is surprising, especially following the success of the Super Mario Bros. Movie and A Minecraft Movie.
Despite Fortnite generating multiple billions of dollars annually and being one of the top media IPs in the world, it has rarely strayed away from just being a video game.
And if you’ve been hoping for a Fortnite movie, it may be a long time before you see Jonesy on the silver screen.

A Marvel leaker recently took to social media to claim that plans for a Fortnite movie had been discussed by Epic Games and Disney. Marvel is another brand owned by Disney and regularly sees collaborations with Fortnite including an appearance in Avengers: Endgame.
This ‘leak’ was posted by prominent Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR, before being quickly shut down by Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney, who simply replied saying “False.”
“Earlier today, a known Marvel leaker claimed that there were multiple talks about a Fortnite movie in the past. Now, Tim Sweeney (CEO of Epic Games) has confirmed that this rumor is completely inaccurate!”
When I first became a journalist in 2019, one of the first articles I posted on a now-defunct website was about the possibility of a Fortnite movie, and since then I have hoped to see it come to fruition.
Although those dreams have currently been squashed, that doesn’t mean that we will never see a movie in the future. With Epic Games being partly owned by Disney, it would be surprising if it never happened.
But for now, it is time to board the Battle Bus, unfortunately, it won’t be heading to the cinema. Instead, players can land in the new Fortnite Reload Chapter 2 map that is set to be released on April 15th, although it will be missing iconic POIs from the original map.
